The 4-year professional basis training to become Design Engineer EFZ at the Kellenberger company is divided into 2 segments:
Basis Training
The basis training during the 1st and 2nd apprenticeship years is carried out in external courses and in our own training facilities. It comprises the areas of technical drawing, construction engineering, and production engineering. This basic knowledge, and the further company-specific knowledge are being continuously enlarged and deepened in our company. The first half of the apprenticeship is concluded with a partial examination.
Because of our modern infrastructure and our qualified professional trainers we can ensure a high standard of quality in our company.
Focused Training
The focused training in the 3rd and 4th years of apprenticeship is carried out in various technical departments and workplaces. It is oriented toward both the needs of the individual trainees as well as the needs of the company. As a rule the two areas of work "constructing products" and "planning and supervising component projects" are taught.
Principally two work areas are taught whereby one is considered as focus and the practical apprenticeship examination is completed with an "individual production project".

Professional Opportunities
An "eidgenössisches Fähigkeitszeugnis" (EFZ) [Swiss Certificate of Competence] is one of the most important foundations necessary for a successful career. In terms of lifelong learning a wide range of further training opportunities are open to the design engineer also after completion of professional basis training. For example studies at a university of applied sciences as mechanical engineer are just as feasible as further training to become e.g. a machinery technician TS.
